The
point of departure for the first module of the project is the
potential of public space as one of the most important
preconditions for the creativity of the community. Through research
into selected public spaces and analysis of their potentials
by a working group of experts from different social and human
sciences (philosophy, theology, architecture, anthropology,
media theory and art) the project deals with issues as to how
the position, function or symbolic meaning of these spaces could
be used, changed or developed for a better functioning of the
immediate or broader community. Starting off from very specific
and functionally different but nevertheless ordinary public
spaces (the square, park, church, mall, public library, daily
paper and internet site) the working group observed what was
going on in them, in which way they are used, how they function,
how they coexist and affect the user.
